"2026 Taiwan Craft Academy - Summer Youth Craft Talent Training Camp"

Event Introduction

The "2026 Taiwan Craft Academy - Summer Youth Craft Talent Training Camp," hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Craft Center), will be held again this summer. This training, in collaboration with seven universities including National Taiwan University of Arts, Huafan University, National Tsing Hua University, Asia University, Tainan National University of the Arts, National Dong Hwa University, and National Taitung Junior College, will offer 13 craft professional courses in the northern, central, southern, and eastern regions. It invites young students passionate about crafts, art, design, and related fields to engage in interdisciplinary craft learning and creative practice.

This year's courses are themed "Flow Fashion - Flowing Happiness, Living Freely, Beautiful Life, All in Craft," focusing on the interdisciplinary connection between crafts and contemporary life aesthetics. The course content combines craft techniques and digital technology, starting from the concept of "fashion," and through cross-disciplinary learning, develops creative and market-potential craft works. The courses cover diverse craft fields such as lacquer art, metalwork, ceramics, woodworking, bamboo art, and fibers. In response to digital era trends, multiple digital media AI courses, including ChatGPT, Canva, and Notion, are planned. These courses use technology to assist in creative thinking and design application, expanding the diverse imagination of the younger generation towards craft creation. The Craft Center states that this course emphasizes not only skill learning and creative practice but also the cultivation of interdisciplinary integration and innovative thinking abilities. It aims to guide students from being "I-shaped talents" with single professional skills to gradually developing into "T-shaped talents" with integrated application and cross-disciplinary thinking, ultimately nurturing "M-shaped craft talents" with cross-domain vision and leadership capabilities to respond to future craft development trends.

The registration deadline for each region is June 7, 115. Please refer to the admission brochure for details.

Wearable Scenery - Porcelain Jewelry Experimental Project

The Porcelain Jewelry Experimental Project focuses on cultivating college students' ability to transform craft materials across domains and redefining the narrative of contemporary jewelry in daily life. The primary goal is to guide students to collect colors and textures of everyday landscapes, triggering new possibilities through sensory perception and learning how to materialize abstract experiences into tangible objects. The workshop aims to inspire students to break through the framework of wearing behavior and wearing position. By placing the finished products on different parts of the body for sensory experiments, students are further guided in cross-material experiments to learn ceramic forming techniques and mold-making skills, porcelain painting techniques, and decorative narratives, hoping that students will complete a series of wearable works through repeated trial and error and playful material collisions.

Obey Wood - Logic X Technology X Creation Polyhedral Wood Product Making

"Obey" means to comply or submit, and in this course, it specifically refers to Plato's classification of polyhedrons into five types, connecting them to the universe and four elements (fire, earth, air, water) in nature, applying scientific logic to nature, creating rules with objective meaning. Starting from geometric structure rules, it integrates "repetition" and "symmetry" in classical logic concepts and principles of beauty into the characteristics of wood's non-uniform materials, maintaining change and the creator's unique personality, creating objects that conform to contemporary aesthetics with wood elements and composite materials.
