28 歲的林一州深深記得，小時候每日清晨， 阿嬤總會為他準備一碗熱騰騰的苦茶油麵線，做為 養胃良方。他也因此深知苦茶油的多元保健功效 和經濟潛力。事實上，苦茶油富含單元不飽和 脂肪酸、多酚、維生素 A、E 等營養素，不僅有助於 降低壞膽固醇、抗氧化、保養腸胃和美容護膚， 還能作為婦女產後補品。
2014 年，臺灣經歷食安風暴，就讀大學一年級 的林一州，看到混油事件層出不窮，隨即想 起 兒 時 記憶中，那碗純粹的苦茶油麵線。他沒有過多 猶豫，便一頭栽入油品市場，投身苦茶油產業。 一般來說，學生都要到大三、大四才 會 進 入 企 業 實習，但志向明確的林一州，大一便決定師從 臺灣苦茶界權威教授，前往文山茶改場實習， 深入學習榨油與種植技術、考取國際油品師，並 於 2015 年創業，成立苦茶油品牌「東一嚴選」。
草創初期，他將自家車庫改造成榨油工廠， 並奔走全臺，尋覓優質茶籽。問題是他既非農家 子弟出生，又太過年輕，許多人認為他只是「來 玩玩」，拒絕與他合作，但林一州最大的優點， 是有著超乎同齡的堅持。他想讓自己看起來更 成熟，便像「小孩穿大鞋」般，學習穿西裝、打領帶、 戴手錶。那段日子，他展現沉穩氣度，好不容易 在北港尋得優質茶籽，既擔任老闆、也扮演工人， 從 採 購 、 榨油到行銷，每一步都踏得扎實，逐漸 打響「東一嚴選」的名號。
For Lin Yi-Chou, now 28, the memory of his grandmother’s early morning ritual of preparing a bowl of misua, thin Taiwanese wheat noodles drizzled with fragrant camellia oil, remains vivid. It was this simple act of care that first revealed to him the rich health benefits of camellia oil.
In 2014, during Taiwan’s food safety crisis, Lin was a freshman in college. The memory of that pure, comforting bowl of misua inspired him to enter the camellia oil industry.
With a clear sense of purpose, Lin, already in his first year of college, took an internship at the Wenshan Tea Research and Extension Station to learnoil-pressingandcultivationtechniques,earned a certification as an international oil sommelier, and in 2015 founded the camellia oil brand “Dongyi Select,” converting his home garage into an oil- pressing facility and traveling across Taiwan in search of premium camellia seeds. However, as someone who wasn’t born into a farming family and was still very young, many people were hesitant to work with him. Yet his determination far exceeded his age. Acting as both boss and laborer, he handled everything himself, from sourcing and oil pressing to marketing, gradually building the strong reputation of Dongyi Select.
